Pirate Ship General Description: A two mast traditionally rigged century old sailing vessel. The fore and aft castles with port holes allow for two levels of play. The large play area amidships between the castles creates a fun place for several young pirates to play and plot their next move. Overall length is 16 feet. The mast height is 10 feet. The pirate ship comes fully assembled. Onsite rigging setup is required. Building details: The vessel is handcrafted using traditional wooden boatbuilding techniques, the construction is exceptional. The framing, top timbers, cap rail and deck houses are crafted of 3/4 inch white oak. The hull planking is 1/2 inch thick. Planks are fastened on frames with stainless steel screws. The deck is crafted of 1 x 6 inch IPE, fastened on frames with stainless deck screws. IPE is a brazilian walnut known for its beauty and durability. Standard features: The pirate ship has a 16 inch solid bronze ship’s wheel. The wheel is solidly mounted and turns freely for play. Decorative port and starboard running lights are securely mounted. The gang plank is solid white oak, allowing kids to walk the plank. The main course yard supports swings on each side of the ship. The main mast flag staff displays a pirate flag. Rigging: The two masts, two course yards and bow sprit are crafted of solid IPE. The rig is supported with PVC coated galvanized 1/4 inch wire. The wire coating is smooth to protect the hands of children. The wire terminations are protected and covered. Finish stains: We have a wide variety of vibrant finish stains available. They create long lasting fun colors for kids play. The interior of the vessel is oiled to allow for the natural beauty of the white oak and IPE to show through. All finishes are safe for children’s play. Base structure/ setup details: The base is crafted of moisture resistant material and designed to set on a flat surface. The vessel is fastened to the ground with 4 to 6 simple ground anchors. The ground and play area surrounding the vessel should be prepared with loose mulch or otherwise appropriate ground cover.
