Eastern Rig Trawler
EASTERN RIG TRAWLER
The eastern rig trawler is commonly used in the fishing and scallop trade. Its design is traditional with a pilot house on the aft deck. The open foredeck allows for a large work or play area. Fishermen are easily viewed from the pilot house, where the Captain can always keep a watchful eye on the crew as they scurry about the deck!
Lobster Boat
LOBSTER BOAT
Our lobster boat is a true classic design that is commonly used as a work boat, but often doubles as a pleasure craft. Lobster boats add charm to coastal communities. With no chance of losing your sea legs and no smelly bait to bag, maybe the whole family will want to come along to play for the day?
Fishing Dory
FISHING DORY
The fishing dory was used widely for handlining cod on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland. The dories were stacked aboard schooners and then sailed to the fishing grounds. Once on the Banks, fishermen would prepare their dories, row out and collect a days catch. It often took many months to fill the hold of a schooner. No one went home until the ship was full. This dory will be great fun in your backyard, don’t forget to pack a lunch, and maybe have mom leave the porch light on!
Life Boat
LIFE BOAT
The life boat has been invaluable to sailors over the years. The design has changed dramatically since first introduced by Britain in 1760. Britain enjoys the reputation of being the first nation in the world to adapt a comprehensive organization for saving life at sea. Our life boat design is open, with bench seating, steering wheel, and lifelines that run fore and aft on the port and starboard sides. Lifelines make it easy for young sailors to scurry into the boat, assuring no one gets left behind for fish bait!
The Barge
THE BARGE
Barges are traditionally flat bottom cargo carrying boats, common on rivers and canals throughout the world. Barges can be pushed or pulled by tug boats. Some have even been crafted with self propulsion. Oil, coal, trash and gravel are a few of the items barges will hold ... your backyard barge can hold parties, cookouts, picnics, games and possibility even a sandbox, pool or bench. Maybe even the doghouse would look good on the flat open deck!
