We offer Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) services to audit of your public access play area for safety concerns. Children’s well-being is close to our hearts and we commend you for your interest in 3rd party safety inspections.
The Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) is a certification offered by the National Playground Safety Institute (a program of the National Recreation and Park Association). The CPSI inspector is certified to audit public access play areas for safety issues, effectively comparing each play area to the current national standards. The national standards are developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials, and presented to the public by the Consumer Products Safety Commission.
The CPSI playground audit is not a regulatory standard, but a compilation of suggested guidelines based upon the American Society for Testing and Materials F 1487-01 Standard, the Handbook for Public Playground Safety written by Consumer Products Safety Commission, and expert opinions from consultants in the field of playground safety.
At the end of the inspection, a confidential comprehensive written report will score the play area in index points as established by the National Playground Safety Institute. The written report is an audit tool of the site and will discuss factors such as: border or fencing, general environmental issues, age/size appropriateness, protective surfacing, use zone, accessibility, composite play structures, free standing equipments, and other site amenities.
Your play area will be compared to national standards and therefore allow your organization to identify and prioritize areas in which improvements can be made— but importantly, the audit does not pass or fail your play area. That is not the intention of the CPSI audit nor is that within the realm of a CPSI. While it does not cover every potential safety concern in a child's environment, it is an overview of the most known playground safety concerns.
Our Backyard Boats for Kids our designed with understanding of national safety standards. Our play boats are unique and therefore certain areas of CPSI audit may not pertain nor comply.
The cost of CPSI audit is pro-rated to the size of the area. Please email inspections@jharold.com for more details.
We look forward to working with your organization to ensure all children have a safe area to play!
