Lobster Boat General Description: A traditionally crafted wooden lobster boat.
The aft deck is open. Kids have plenty of seating along the rail. There is a handcrafted traditional wooden lobster trap off the davit on the starboard side. The lobster trap fastens to the ground and is sturdy enough for children to climb on. We’ve enclosed a few rubber play lobster to start the day's catch.
The covered dash protects the ship’s wheel, play throttle and play knobs.
The fore deck is raised for a fun open play area on the bow.
Below the foredeck is a fun cabin for kids to climb in and out of, it creates a realistic below deck feel. Overall length is 10 feet.
The lobster boat comes fully assembled.
Building details:
The vessel is handcrafted using traditional wooden boatbuilding techniques, the construction is exceptional. The framing, top timbers, cap rail and deck houses are crafted of 3/4 inch white oak. The hull planking is 1/2 inch thick. Planks are fastened on frames with stainless steel screws. The deck is crafted of 1 x 6 inch IPE, fastened on frames with stainless deck screws. IPE is a brazilian walnut known for its beauty and durability.
Standard features:
The lobster boat has a 16 inch solid bronze ship’s wheel. The wheel is solidly mounted and turns freely for play. There is a lobster trap and a few play lobsters. The davit on the starboard side is non-functional, this keeps the kids fingers safe, but looks realistic. Port and starboard decorative running lights are securely mounted. The flag staff proudly displays the U.S flag. Finish stains:
We have a wide variety of vibrant finish stains available. They create long lasting fun colors for kids play. The interior of the vessel is oiled to allow for the natural beauty of the white oak and IPE to show through. All finishes are safe for children’s play. Base structure/ setup details:
The base is crafted of moisture resistant material and designed to set on a flat surface. The vessel is fastened to the ground with 4 to 6 simple ground anchors. The ground and play area surrounding the vessel should be prepared with loose mulch or otherwise appropriate ground cover. We are available to discuss options if needed. This base design allows for easy movement of the vessel to another place, if so desired.
