Tug Boat General Description: A traditionally crafted wooden tug boat. The aft deck is open with two wooden hawser bits solidly mounted to the deck. The bits create a fun seating area aft, the stern design acts as a table for play or lunch. The stern table opens for storage of play equipment. The foredeck is open with a large hawser bit securely fastened to the deck.The cap rail has a hawser fairlead on each side. The amidships pilot house protects the ship’s wheel, the play throttle and knobs on the dash. The pilot house has open port holes. The hull has proper fenders, four tires and rub rail. Overall length is 10 feet. The tug boat is fully assembled. Building details: The vessel is handcrafted using traditional wooden boatbuilding techniques, the construction is exceptional. The framing, top timbers, cap rail and deck houses are crafted of 3/4 inch white oak. The hull planking is 1/2 inch thick. Planks are fastened on frames with stainless steel screws. The deck is crafted of 1 x 6 inch IPE, fastened on frames with stainless deck screws. IPE is a brazilian walnut known for its beauty and durability. Standard features: The pilot house has a 16 inch solid bronze ship’s wheel. The wheel is solidly mounted and turns freely for play. Play throttle and knobs in the pilot house are fun for kids. Port and starboard decorative running lights are securely mounted. The flag staff proudly displays the U.S flag. Finish stains: We have a wide variety of vibrant finish stains available. They create long lasting fun colors for kids play. The interior of the vessel is oiled to allow for the natural beauty of the white oak and IPE to show through. All finishes are safe for children’s play. Base structure/ setup details: The base is crafted of moisture resistant material and designed to set on a flat surface. The vessel is fastened to the ground with 4 to 6 simple ground anchors. The ground and play area surrounding the vessel should be prepared with loose mulch or otherwise appropriate ground cover.
